Rachel Toth Ceramics
Rachel is a ceramicist based in a small studio nestled at the foot of the Sidlaw Hills in Angus. Specialising in wheel-thrown stoneware, she creates pieces that reflect the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside, with glazes and forms inspired by the landscapes around her.
Rachel’s love for pottery began in childhood, visiting potteries and being captivated by the unique pieces and the unmistakable scent of clay being worked with and fired. It was through these early experiences, followed by studying claywork at school and beyond that she developed a deep connection to the craft, a feeling that has stayed with her ever since.
After a long career in molecular biology, where precision and process were key, Rachel now channels those skills into her pottery, combining careful technique with the freedom and creativity that clay offers. She creates functional, yet beautiful pieces for everyday use, incorporating subtle glazes and hand-drawn decorations that reflect her deep appreciation for nature.
Rachel enjoys connecting with others who share her passion for ceramics, whether they are fellow makers or customers who appreciate the craft.
