Rachel Meehan

Rachel trained as a fine artist (printmaker specialising in screen printing) and completed her Postgraduate at Glasgow School of Art. This training has influenced her illustrative technique.

Rachel works using a variety of techniques including scraper board, where images are scraped into a black surface to reveal the white before being rendered using her distinctive bold colours. These images are incredibly detailed, and each design can take days or weeks to complete.
Her printmaking includes lino prints, dry-point etchings and monoprints which she hand prints in her studio in the Scottish Borders. This work tends to be in black and white.

Inspired by her garden, where she grows a wide variety of flowers and also from her love of birds, especially exotic which she can visit at a nearby bird centre, Rachel’s work celebrates nature’s colour in all its glory.

Alongside her open and limited edition prints, Rachel applies her images to a range of products including blank greeting cards, gift wrap, kitchen linens, ceramic tiles and luxurious silk scarves. All Rachel’s products are manufactured in the UK.

Rachel is based in the Scottish Borders and supplies a number of galleries and shops across the UK alongside selling at events. Rachel’s work can also be purchased at https://www.rachelmeehan.co.uk/
