Jen graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2016 and is the designer and maker behind Braes Jewellery. She produces handmade pieces with creative depth and considered sustainable production. The basis of her work is inspired by her interest in the human connection with nature and archaeology. The similarities of patterns found in the human body and in nature are endless and Jen endeavours to find these details and use the repetition of these forms in her metalwork. The handmade objects have a tactile feel from textures created on the surfaces of the metals using different techniques to emulate organic structures.
Jen imagines coming across some of the objects she makes as buried treasure that has been unearthed or washed up by the landscape around them. These pieces should reflect some of the environment around where they are imagined from.
